Day 28: Pinterest

Are you looking for some fresh fashion inspiration?  You need to be on Pinterest.  I am sure that most of you know, but Pinterest is a virtual pin board.  When you see a cute outfit somewhere, you can "pin it" to one of your boards, and then later when you are wondering "what should I wear today?"  You can go to your pinterest board and have all these cute ideas to choose from.  Another way to use pinterest is to search for an item that you have, like white jeans.  Then you can search through all the people that you follow to see looks they have pinned with white jeans in them!  To me, it is like having all the best fashion magazines, fashion blogs, and online shopping stores in one place.  Are you on Pinterest?

Don't forget about the giveaway on my Libbylu Blog...

Here are a few of my favorite pinnings on Pinterest.  Want to follow me?  Click the link to the right!

Day 27: Layering Tees

Layering is something that seems to be a challenge to a lot of people.  When I do a wardrobe consultation, I try to show my clients how layering is not a challenge but an opportunity to expand your wardrobe!  Many people take their summer dresses and tops and put them away for the winter months for lack of ways to wear them.  When it comes to layering there are basically 2 options, layer under or layer over.  When you wear a cardigan, jacket or vest, you are layering over and when you wear a lightweight tee underneath, you are layering under.  The key to layering under is finding the perfect layering tee.  In my personal opinion the perfect layering tee is light weight, a nice long length, and has a u-shaped scoop type neck (to open up the chest and not feel so bulky).

The search for great layering tees is NOT easy, I have included some links, but I HIGHLY recommend this is something that you try on and see for yourself.  Once you find one you like buy it in white, black, gray, cream, and any other color you love.  This year I have even added some striped layering tees to my collection, and they are going with everything.

If you need a place to start...

Let me know if you find or have found some great layering tees!
Also, I am having a giveaway on my Libbylu Designs page, click here for the details...

Day 26: Tights

Tights can be a great addition to your wardrobe.  You can use them to take clothes into colder months, to add color and interest to an outfit, or to be make short skirts and shorts more appropriate.

Some examples...

Use colored tights to do some winter color-blocking. (Cobalt blue tights $5.99 from TJ Maxx)

Create interest to an all black dress (that is also super-short) with colored tights and fun shoes.
Bring leather shorts into cool weather with black tights (black tights from Target)

Don't be afraid to wear your tights with open toes shoes.  Just make sure the shoe is substantial enought to handle it.

Unlike this one... too summery and strappy for opaque tights...

Day 25: Evening Bags

Nothing ruins the look of a great outfit like a big bulky daytime purse in the evening.  Now most of you probably just hand your hubbie or boyfriend your lipstick, ID, and maybe phone to carry in his pocket when you go out, or to a wedding, but why not try a fun evening bag or clutch.  They are a super-fun way to add some more interest to your outfit, and your man won't resent you for weighing down his pockets.  You also can avoid the Kelly B trap of being stuck in line at the grocery store with a cart full of groceries the next day and realizing that your ID and credit card are still laying in the laundry hamper in husbands pants...

These little bags do not have to be expensive, at all.  All but one of the bags below I picked up at the thrift store for around 3 dollars each...

If you don't want to search the thrift stores and garage sales for your bags, here are some more options...
Also, if you live here in Memphis, Jun Lee has a GREAT selection of clutches towards the back of the store.

Day 24: Go to Earrings

Earrings really brighten up your face, and they are always a great finishing touch to your look.  Since they are typically the very last thing I think about or put on, I like to have some easy go-to earrings that don't take much thought.
It is great to have some basic earrings that will go with lots.  If you are wearing other bold accessories (scarves, bracelets, necklaces) then you want to keep your earrings understated.  There are also times when I want a bigger earring when my other accessories aren't as bold.
I would suggest having:
1.  One small pair of gold stud-type earring
2.  One larger pair of gold hoops or tear drops
3.  One small pair of silver stud-type earring
4.  One larger pair of silver hoops or tear drops
5.  Some pearl studs
6.  A fun colored earring like turquoise, since it goes with everything!

Some options...

If you have these options, you should almost always have the perfect earring to finish your look without thinking!

Only a week of October left, are you feeling more fashionable?  Any suggestions for things you would like to see?  Let me know!
