Everyone needs a great pair of black pumps in their closet. Many of my friends and clients are uncomfortable wearing a high heel when they are dragging their kids around town. Another option is a wedge heel. They are a bit more sturdy and usually more comfortable.
Here are some affordable recommendations for black wedges:

Giveaway!
Recently, I had the honor of helping the lovely Chrissy of Kidstation with a wardrobe consultation. We had a great time getting to know each other and putting together some new looks from items that were in her closet.
Here is a picture of her in one of the fall looks that we picked out.
We layered a cute floral summer shirt with a little cardigan and black flat boots to take it into the fall.
Now, for the giveaway. I will chose one winner to receive a wardrobe consultation (up to 2 hours). To enter, subscribe to my emails (box on the right hand side). For another entry, like Kelly B Style on facebook. If you already like me on Facebook, just leave a comment below telling me that. Winner will be chosen on Thursday, September 8th. Do not enter unless you live in the greater Memphis area (Memphis, Cordova, Germantown, Bartlett, Collierville, Millington, Southaven, Olive Branch, etc...). If you are looking for a wonderful place to drop your kids while you have a wardrobe consultation, or any other reason, I would highly recommend Kidstation. While you are there ask Chrissy about her experience! She was a GREAT client.

Recent Wardrobe Ideas...
I have been having so much fun doing some recent wardrobe consultations. I thought it would be fun to show a few of the outfits we came up with using items from their current closets...
H had this great black bubble skirt, we paired it with a tuxedo-like white shirt and a sparkly belt for a fun evening look.
H also had this amazing Missoni poncho that she really didn't know how to wear. We paired it with a great belt, black leggings and wedges.
C had a comfortable pink knit dress that she wore a lot in the summer. We paired it with a ruffled long cardigan, black leggings, and some turquoise jewelry to take it into fall.
C had this gorgeous copper necklace that she had a hard time finding a top to go with. We put it with a bright turquoise blouse and gray pants.
Here we put a great black and white skirt with a ruffled sleevless red blouse and a brown belt.
E had this casual tube top that she had only worn with shorts to take her kids to the play ground. We decided to mix it with some pink pants and green shoes for a fun color combination.

Kelly B Recommends: Skinny Black Pants
Going to college in the late 90's we all had a go-to pair of boot leg black pants. We would wear them to frat parties, special events, and even church. When we would talk about the dress code for a party, we would say "Black pants, shiny shirt." Eventually black pants were replaced by dressy jeans, but I think there are still MANY occasions that call for something dressier than jeans. The item that I am always recommending is skinny black pants. I have a couple pairs of these. One longer pair and one ankle length pair. They are a great modern take on black pants. Skinny black pants can be dressed up for going out, and dressed down for work or more casual events.
