Recent Wardrobe Ideas...

I have been having so much fun doing some recent wardrobe consultations. I thought it would be fun to show a few of the outfits we came up with using items from their current closets...

H had this great black bubble skirt, we paired it with a tuxedo-like white shirt and a sparkly belt for a fun evening look.

H also had this amazing Missoni poncho that she really didn't know how to wear. We paired it with a great belt, black leggings and wedges.

C had a comfortable pink knit dress that she wore a lot in the summer. We paired it with a ruffled long cardigan, black leggings, and some turquoise jewelry to take it into fall.

C had this gorgeous copper necklace that she had a hard time finding a top to go with. We put it with a bright turquoise blouse and gray pants.

Here we put a great black and white skirt with a ruffled sleevless red blouse and a brown belt.

E had this casual tube top that she had only worn with shorts to take her kids to the play ground. We decided to mix it with some pink pants and green shoes for a fun color combination.

Kelly B Recommends: Skinny Black Pants

Going to college in the late 90's we all had a go-to pair of boot leg black pants.  We would wear them to frat parties, special events, and even church.  When we would talk about the dress code for a party, we would say "Black pants, shiny shirt."  Eventually black pants were replaced by dressy jeans, but I think there are still MANY occasions that call for something dressier than jeans.  The item that I am always recommending is skinny black pants.  I have a couple pairs of these.  One longer pair and one ankle length pair.  They are a great modern take on black pants.  Skinny black pants can be dressed up for going out, and dressed down for work or more casual events.
Here are some affordable options...

Scarf Style

I have been having so much fun helping my clients with wardrobe consultations.  One of my favorite tricks to show them is a new way to wear their scarves...

When you drape it around your neck and belt it across the middle, it gives you a vest-like look.  This tends to work best with lighter gauzy scarves, and neutral outfits underneath.  Here I have a plain black tank, skinny black pants, and simple black pumps under the fun gauzy scarf.

Style Diary: A good addition

I picked this fun flyaway cardigan vest at Belk on a recent trip to East Tennessee for around $20.  I have been able to wear it with several outfits.  Here it is with a simple tank and white shorts for running errands.
I got this little sundress at Gap Outlet for $20.  It was a little skimpy for church, so I threw the new cardigan over it and it looked more appropriate.
Then I belted it over another sundress for another look.  I think this is going to be great heading into fall...

Bargain Beauty Faves

Most of you know that I am a pretty big BARGAIN shopper!  This includes my beauty and makeup products.  Here are just a few of my favorite bargain beauty products that I love...

1.  Avon Magix Primer:  I have fairly oily skin, and this primer really helps.  Even here in the humid hot Memphis weather.  When my skin is behaving, I use this under my mineral powder, and that is all I have to wear.  I usually order it from Ebay, but of course, you can get it from an Avon rep.
2.  Rimmell Lash Accelerator Mascara:  I have been using this for about a year, and I have been AMAZED at how long my lashes have grown.  This stuff is great!  I picked it up on sale at Walgreens and I had a coupon, so it was super cheap.

3. I love cream blushes.  They just stay on so much better than powders.  This one from E.L.F.  is only $1 I think.  It lasts forever.

4.  Loreal Endless Timeless Tawny Lipstick:  I learned about this color from Tiffany D.  It is the most beautiful, easy, versatile color, ever!  The sad part is they have discontinued it, but the great part is recently I have found them at Big Lots for $1.50-2.00.  If you see me rummaging through every Big Lots I am near, now you know why.

5.  E.L.F.: Eyeliner pen:  I can hardly leave the house without eyeliner, or I look like a corpse.  This is also only $1.  It draws a great dark, waterproof line, which you can make as thin or thick as you like.  I buy these 5 or 6 at a time because they are so cheap.  Target has recently started carrying it, which is great because I don't have to pay for shipping.

Hopefully, I can share some bargain hair buys with you soon...  Let me know if you try any of these (or if you see my lipstick at Big Lots).
