Style Resolution: Stock up now!

This is a GREAT time of year to stock up on some winter essentials.  Stores are marking down their boots, sweaters and coats.  You still have a couple months to enjoy them now, and then around October or November you will be SO glad you got them way back in the winter.
I have put some links below, but your best bet is to hit the stores.  That way you can try them on, and stores often have much better deals than online.

Style Resolutions: Find Inspiration

Todays resolution is to find new sources for fashion inspiration. These days there are so many places to get outfit ideas and inspiration.  Pinterest is FULL of fashion bloggers that post beautiful outfits everyday.  Find a few that you like and follow them.  Imitation is the highest form of flattery!










When I saw this look on Pinterest, I knew I could recreate something similar with my fuschia jeans.  Maybe not as cute as the original, but more me!

Postpartum

Oh, that magical time right after you have a baby...
No sleep, nothing fits, stressed out.  Ugh, just the thought of those first few weeks or months after having a baby is all the birth control I need.
I get asked lots of questions about postpartum fashion, and I also get lots of comments about how people are going to call me once they lose their baby weight.
It has been 3 and a half years since I had to deal with the oh-so-lovely postpartum fashion conundrum, and though my memory may be a bit foggy, there are a few things I can remember and some advice I can give.
1.  Do NOT plan on wearing your regular non-maternity jeans home from the hospital.  This will only make you extremely sad.  Even if by some MIRACLE all your weight actually was "baby," your hips have not returned to their former slimmer locations and most likely they have pumped you so full of fluids during delivery that you have gained several pounds of lovely water weight.
2.  Go to Old Navy, Target or some other affordable place and get a few pairs of season appropriate bottom just to make it through the next few weeks or months.  You are going to have to get them a few sizes bigger than you are used to buying, but don't let it bother you.  Just be glad that you have some pants that you can comfortably wear outside the house.  No one but you will know what size they are, and you will feel great when they get too big!

Style Resolution: Be Thrifty

Most of you know that I LOVE a good bargain!  Don't be afraid to shop at thrift stores, garage sales, and discount stores for your clothes!  Even if I had lots of money (which I don't), I think I would still love the thrill of finding a great deal at an unexpected place.

Style Resolution: Army Style

If you have not purchased a military style jacket or vest yet, do it!  I have been shocked how much I have worn my military jackets and vest. The vest is probably one of my favorite items in my wardrobe at the moment.  It just seems to go with everything.

Tying it near your neck and tucking it into your blouse a bit makes it look more like a necklace and less like a scarf.  Plus, it is super warm.

Style Resolution: Fitness Gear

Today's style resolution is to update your workout attire.  If you are anything like me, you may spend much of the day in your workout clothes (this is going to have to be another resolution for another day).  So if you are wearing your workout clothes you may need to:
a.  Get some new stuff
b.  Get some cuter stuff

Even if your workout clothes are cute, they may be worn out and gross.  Or you may be one of those people that still wears baggie t-shirts from sorority mixers and mesh basketball shorts.  Either way, here are some cute affordable options that I have found recently. 

All these tops are from Wal-Mart and the pants are from Kohls.  The links are below the pictures.
 


I have this top in the black and white and I LOVE it!  It is longer than it looks in the picture.  It fits and performs great. 



I have this one in the blue pattern.  I think I like it even better than the top one.  Also longer in the length, and comfortable. 




I have this one in the black.  It is super stretch, maybe not quite as long as the other two, but still great!



I can't say enough about these pants. This picture doesn't do them justice.  I have had them for a year or so, and I LOVE them!  I have tried the fancy Lululemon ones and they are not even close to as great as these are, and they are double the price.  They fit well, wick the moisture, and make your back side look GREAT!


I have also found cute stuff on the racks at Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Ross etc...

So, update those fitness wardrobe friends!
