A bit more about Elegantees..

Katie Behnke is the founder of Elegantees. She is in New York City and works in the fashion industry. Her passion for Elegantees is to grow the brand into a lucrative company and to use the dividends to fight sex trafficking. Katie's conviction is business must be used for good. When she started Elegantees in 2010, Katie was reflecting about how heart-broken she felt when she learned of sex trafficking in a class while she attended the Fashion Institute of Technology. So, Katie made a covenant that the financial success of Elegantees will be used to fight trafficking and injustice. Elegantees is a small business today, but is saving up to get closer to our first project --- To go to Nepal and set up sustainable sewing employment for women rescued from sex trafficking.

I need your help!
I know that you all are tired of seeing my old face on this blog everyday!  I would love to get some of you to help me with some upcoming posts.  I am specifically looking for…
1.  Someone pregnant
2.  Someone transitioning after pregnancy
3.  Someone willing to go with me to a thrift store for some styling
4.  someone willing to go with me to a discount store for some styling

If you live in the Memphis area, and if you are interested in being a little “experiment” for me and willing to have your picture on my blog, send me an email (Kelly bourland at yahoo dot com) and we can talk about the details.   There will be no cost involved for you, unless you want to buy some of the clothes we find.

Also, I am drawing the name for the enclosure cards today, check out Libbylu Designs for details...

Reader Question: Short Tops

Here is a recent question from a reader...

“I have trouble with low rise pants. It seems my shirts are never long enough, and I'm constantly checking to see if my stomach showing. I know with a t shirt and jeans I can layer another t shirt or cami, but with work clothes it's harder. I wore a sweater set with black pants the other day and the sweater set barely skimmed the top of the pants. Any advice?”

My first advice would be to wear pants with a higher rise.  I personally HATE low-rise pants and jeans (I am extremely high-waisted, so they just don’t work on me).  I try to choose mid-rise or higher pants.  If you don’t want to invest in a bunch of new pants, I still think that it is ok to have a longer cami sticking out under your work blouses.  Maybe even one with a lacy trim on it.  You could also tuck the cami in, so that if you lift up your arms, your tummy is covered.    My second advice would be to wear longer tops.  Switch out the short bottom sweater of your set for a silk blouse or a button down that would give you more coverage.

Hope this helps!  Keep those questions coming…

Style Diary: Memphis in Memphis

Recently, I got to have a date night with my husband to see the musical Memphis.  It is a wonderful show, if you get a chance to see it, GO!  I was also excited to wear this fun Kensie tunic that I found at Ross a long time ago on clearance for $11.99.  I paired it with my black leggings and these fun new wedges I got at the Nine West outlet at the beach for $29.99.

Day 31: All you need...

I hope that you all have gotten some good ideas from my “31 Days to a More Fashionable Life” series!  My final tip for a more fashionable life is probably the most important, and that is- Be Confident!  Whether you are rocking some flat boots, a new belt, a funky color combination, some leopard pants, black with brown, a top knot or anything else, the key to feeling and looking your best is confidence!  If you think it looks good and you wear it with confidence, everyone around you will think so too!  One of the best things that I have discovered as I am getting older is that I am more comfortable being myself.  If I like it, I wear it!  I try not to let others opinions, or the fear of others opinions stop me from being who I want to be.  I hope that when you all step out of the house today and everyday that you will know that you are beautiful the way God created you because you are made in His image!

Make sure and check back this week, I have a really fun giveaway coming up!

Also, I would love to have some reader input for my upcoming posts.
